Women's soccer receives at-large bid to 2013 NCAA Division III Tournament; Tigers to play MIT on Saturday

ROCHESTER, NY – For the second straight year, the RIT (12-4-3) women's soccer team will compete in the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship. The Tigers, an at-large selection, will play Massachusetts Institute of Technology (13-2-5) on Saturday, November 16 at 1:30 p.m. in Ewing, N.J. on the campus of The College of New Jersey.

"I am incredibly proud of this team," stated fourth-year Head Coach #Liz Masterson#. "Making it back to the NCAA Tournament was one of our goals coming into this year, and we made it."

Last year, RIT played in its first NCAA Tournament game since the program's inception in 1982, tying Ohio Northern 1-1 at Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh, Pa. The Polar Bears advanced on penalty kicks.

RIT enters Saturday's game with a 12-4-2 record, and are 4-2-0 in its last six games. Last time out, the Tigers lost to No. 3 William Smith College 1-0 in the Liberty League Tournament Championship. RIT advanced to the title game with a 1-0 road win at No. 18 Skidmore College in the semifinals.

RIT is averaging 1.32 goals per game, and have outscored their opponents 25-13 on the season. Junior #Sierra Kiss (Sauquoit, NY/Sauquoit) leads RIT in scoring with 23 points on 11 goals and one assists. Freshman (Sammamish, WA/Eastlake)Anka Parzych (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) is second on the team in scoring with seven points on three goals and one assist. Sophomore (Sammamish, WA/Eastlake)Ehlana Gray (Sewickley, PA/Avonworth)#, who scored the game-winner versus Skidmore in the Liberty League Semifinals, is third on the team with six points on a goal and a team-best four assists.

Defensively, RIT allows 0.68 goals per game and have a school record 11 shutouts on the season. Junior #Amanda Murray (Denville, NJ/Morris Knolls)# has seen the majority of the minutes in net for RIT, posting an 11-4-1 record. She has a 0.72 goals against average and a .864 save percentage to go along with nine shut outs on the year.

MIT comes into Saturday's first round match with a 13-2-5 overall record. The Engineers are 4-0-2 in their last six games, including a 0-0 tie versus Springfield College in the New England Men's and Women's Athletic Conference Finals. The Engineers lost on penalty kicks, earning the at-large bid.

Offensively, MIT averages 1.90 goals per game. The Engineers have outscored their opponents 39-9 this season. Ambika Krishnamachar leads the team in scoring with 26 points on 11 goals and four assists. Rachel Dias Carsison is second with 12 points (3g, 6a) and Michaelann Fleischmann is third in scoring with 11 points (5g, 1a).

Defensively, the Engineers have allowed just nine goals on the season, allowing 0.45 goals per game, including nine shutouts. Lauren Ullmann has played the majority of the minutes in net for MIT, allowing 6 goals in 20 games this season. She has a 0.42 goals against average, a .928 save percentage and four shutouts on the season.

Saturday will be the first ever meeting between the two programs. The winner will face the winner between The College of New Jersey and Penn State-Berks on Sunday, November 17 at 1:30 p.m. in Ewing, N.J.
