Men's soccer scores three unanswered goals to rally and defeat St. John Fisher

ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT men's soccer team (6-6-3) fell behind 1-0 in the second minute, but rallied to score three straight goals en route to a 3-1 win over St. John Fisher College (4-8-2) in non-conference action on a cold and rainy Wednesday afternoon at Tiger Stadium. Seniors Andy Fleckenstein (Farmington, NY/Victor), Jimmy Forbes (Manlius, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) and John Kaddo (Troy, NY/Averill Park) each scored for the Tigers.

Shots were 16,-2 in favor of RIT, while corner kicks were 7-3 in favor of the Tigers. Kaddo had a goal and two assists for RIT who break a five-game scoreless drought. Fleckenstein and Forbes each had goals, while Coty Winchell (Belfast, NY/Belfast) and Danny Bloshkin (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) had assists. Mark Reeves (Macedon, NY/Palmyra-Macedon) picked up his sixth win of the season in net for RIT, making one save.

Joel Castellini scored for the Cardinals, while Matt Silvi added an assist. Kyle Metcalfe took the loss for Fisher, making six saves.

The Cardinals did not take long to get on the scoreboard, tallying a goal in the second minute. Silvi sent a corner kick into the RIT box that Castellini headed into the far corner to give the Cardinals an early 1-0 lead.

RIT tallied the equalizer in the 15th minute on Fleckenstein's first goal of the season. Kaddo sent a free kick into the Fisher penalty area from 25 yards out that Fleckenstein deflected off his toe and into the Fisher net, tying the score at 1-1.

Forbes made it 2-1 RIT on his goal in the 24th minute. Kaddo sent the service into the box that Winchell flicked a back-heeled shot towards the Fisher net, clanging the shot off the post. The loose ball came right to Forbes and he one-timed a shot into the net, giving RIT the lead.

Kaddo made it 3-1 Tigers on his goal in the 31st minute. Bloshkin sent Kaddo clear with a ball that Kaddo fired into the Fisher net for his team-leading eighth goal of the season.

Neither team scored in the second half.

RIT returns to action on Saturday, October 26 when the they host Union College in Liberty League action at 2 p.m. at Tiger Stadium. Come join the Tigers as they will honor the seniors in their final regular season home game. The Tigers will also be wearing commemorative blue jerseys and collecting donations with the proceeds going to Camp Good Days and Special Times.
