GENEVA, NY -- The RIT women's swimming and diving team dropped a close meet 123-119 at William Smith College on Wednesday evening.
Jill Sirkis (Fairless Hills, PA/Pennsbury) and #
Sam Huselstein (Olean, NY/Olean)# each won a pair of events for the Tigers who fall to 4-2 in dual meets this season.
In the opening event, the team of #
Jenna Hoffman (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena)#, #
Shannon Ryan (Round Rock, TX/Stony Point)#, Sirkis and #
Kelsey Schaefer (Berea, OH/Berea)# placed second in the 200-yard freestyle Relay in a time of 2:02.01
#
Caitlin Foster (Bath, ME/Morse)# (11:37.96) and #
Krystal Mitich (Mesa, AZ/Red Mountain)# (12:21.82) placed second and third respectively in the 1,000-yard freestyle.
Sirkis picked up her first win of the meet in the 200-yard individual medley, finishing in a time 2:21.96. She went on to win the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:02.31.
Huselstein took home first in the 1-meter competition, finishing with a score 214.20. The sophomore won the 3-meter competition with a score of 217.90.
Other winners were #
Kelsey Schaefer (Berea, OH/Berea)# in the 100-yard freestyle (58.07), and #
Jenna Hoffman (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena)# in the 100-yard backstroke (1:05.13).
The Tigers return to action on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 1 p.m. at the University of Rochester.
