CANTON, NY -- The RIT women's basketball team (4-10, 1-5 Liberty League) traveled to Canton on Saturday afternoon, losing at Liberty League leader St. Lawrence University (12-3, 6-0 Liberty League) 55-43 in Liberty League action.

The Saints, who extended their winning streak to 12 games, were led by Kara McDuffee's 17 points and 13 rebounds.
St. Lawrence used stifling defense in the first half, holding the Tigers to 25.9 percent shooting from the floor.
Wheeler sparked a 6-0 run for RIT, cutting the Saints lead back to within five points at 19-14. St. Lawrence, however, held RIT to just one free throw while scoring 11 points to close out the first half with a 30-15 lead.
RIT took advantage of St. Lawrence's cold shooting in the opening 9:00 minutes of the second half, using a 13-4 run to come back within six points at 34-28.
A 3-pointer from McDuffee at 10:40 put the Saints back up nine, Hom sparked an 8-3 RIT run to bring the Tigers to within four at 40-36 at the 7:45 mark of the second half.
That was the closest they would come, however, as St. Lawrence ran off eight straight points to build a 48-36 cushion with 4:34 left in the half.
The Tigers did not come closer than nine points for the remainder of the game, and the Saints closed the game 7-for-10 from the free throw line in the final two minutes.
RIT shot 30.5 percent from the floor on 18-of-59 shooting. The Tigers were 1-for-11 from behind the arc, and were out rebounded 45-36 by the Saints.
The Tigers return home to face Vassar College on Friday, Jan. 25 at 6 p.m. on the floor of Clark Gymnasium.
