ROCHESTER, NY -
Senior Jen Adams (Batavia, NY/Batavia) and junior Erin LaFave (Troy, MI/Bloomfield Hills Lahser) of the RIT women's track and field team and men's track and field freshman standout Jamie Dorren (Irondequoit, NY/Irondequoit) will represent the Tigers at the 2012 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, scheduled for Thursday, May 24 through Saturday, May 26 at Fritz B. Burns Stadium hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in Claremont, Calif.

Adams will compete in the long jump, which will take place on Thursday at 6 p.m. EST. It will be the fourth time she has qualified for the NCAA Championship in the event. In 2010, Adams competed in the long jump in the indoor and outdoor seasons, failing to qualify for the final in each event. Just a few months ago, Adams shattered her own indoor school mark in the long jump with a leap of 5.79 meters, qualifying for the NCAA Championship, but could not compete due to injury. Adams recorded her best outdoor jump of 5.67 on May 12. It is the 21st best leap in Division III this season.

LaFave has enjoyed a banner season in the 3,000-meter steeplechase breaking both the RIT school mark and United States National Deaf Athlete record twice in the event over the last two weeks. She will compete in the preliminary heat on Thursday at 10:50 p.m. EST. If she advances, the championship will be Saturday at 4:45 p.m. On May 12, she recorded a time of 11:09.38 at the Oneonta State May Meet. Just five days later, LaFave re-broke the record by nearly nine seconds in 11:00.74, which is the 25th best in Division III this season. LaFave also competed at the 2011 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships and broke the RIT school record for fastest time over 6,000-meters in finishing 96th overall out of 277 runners.

Dorren, the 2012 Liberty League Indoor Track and Field Rookie of the Year, is making his first appearance in the NCAA Tournament in the high jump, after nearly qualifying during the indoor season. His event will take place on Friday at 8:45 p.m. On May 17, Dorren recorded a personal best leap of 2.06 meters at the College of Jersey Last Chance meet. That leap is tied for the 12th best in Division III this year and is just off of RIT's school record in the event of 2.09 meters, set by Willie Barkley in 2006.

This marks the seventh straight season that RIT will be sending at least three student-athletes to the NCAA Outdoor Championships and first time that two RIT women have advanced in one season since 2007.
