ORLANDO, FL -
The RIT baseball team (2-4) completed its Spring trip at the 2012 RussMatt Invitational by splitting a doubleheader against Wentworth (7-4) at South Florida Community College on Friday. The Tigers lost the opening game, 8-0, but rebounded to win game two, 5-4.

In game one, the Leopards broke open a close game with three runs in the fifth and two in the sixth. Alex Wong was the star for Wentworth, going 2-for-3 with a double, triple, two runs scored, and two runs batted in. In addition, he hurled a complete-game, three-hit shutout, facing just three RIT batters over the minimum.

Kreag Bradley (Victor, NY/Victor), Walt Roman (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport), and Skip Flanagan (Framingham, MA/Bishop Feehan) had hits for the Tigers. Roman and Flanagan both doubled. On the mound, Ethan Humbert (Rose, NY/North Rose-Wolcott) took the loss, allowing four earned runs, while striking out four in the complete-game effort.

In game two, RIT jumped out to a 4-0 first inning lead and held on for the win. Roman delivered the big blow in the inning, a two-out triple to right field, scoring Ron Canestro (East Amherst, NY/Nichols) and Jon Meyer (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland). Corey McEvoy (Hilton, NY/Hilton) and Tyler Ramotar (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) also hit run-scoring singles in the frame.

After Wentworth cut the lead to 4-3, RIT scored a big insurance run in the fourth inning, as Bradley, singled, stole second base, and scored on a hit by Canestro.

Flanagan earned his first collegiate win on the mound, scattering nine hits in five innings. Tyler Leichtenberger (Warren, PA/Warren Area) recorded his first save, hurling a pair of scoreless innings, allowing just one hit.

The Tigers return to action next Saturday, March 17, with a doubleheader against Cazenovia at Webster's Field of Dreams Park that begins at 12 p.m.
