Baseball gets knocked off by No. 20 SUNY Cortland

ORLANDO, FL -
The RIT baseball team (0-2) dropped a tough decision to No. 20 SUNY Cortland (3-3) on Monday afternoon, losing to 14-5 at Lake Myrtle Field.

After getting down 8-0, the Tigers roared back with a pair of runs in the fifth and three in the sixth to cut the Cortland deficit to 8-5. The Red Dragons tacked on four runs in the seventh and two in the ninth to pull away.

Kreag Bradley (Victor, NY/Victor) was 2-for-5 with double, two runs scored, and two RBI's for the Tigers. Ronnie Canestro (East Amherst, NY/Nichols) was 2-for-5 with a run batted in. Jon Meyer (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland) singled and drove in a run. Jaren Bell (Rochester, NY/Brighton) scored his first collegiate run and had hit first hit, while #C.J. Bolorin## also scored his first collegiate run.

RIT left 12 men on base.

Skip Flanagan (Framingham, MA/Bishop Feehan) took the loss for RIT, allowing six runs in 4 1/3 innings. Wyatt Seybold (Rochester, NY/Greece Odyssey) threw a hitless inning of relief. Conor Herlihy (Geneseo, NY/Geneseo) also made his collegiate debut on the mound, pitching the ninth inning.

Tim Panetta was 4-for-4 with two triples, a double, two runs scored, and four RBI's for Cortland. Mike Hughes allowed one hit and one run while striking out nine in 4 1/3 innings to earn the win.

The Tigers return to action on Tuesday with a single game against a second straight New York State rival, SUNY IT at 9 a.m.
