ROCHESTER, NY –
The RIT women's hockey team (3-3-0) used a balanced attack to defeat Yale (0-2-0) by a score of 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at Blue Cross Arena in downtown Rochester. The game was part of RIT's Brick City Homecoming and Family Weekend.

#Morgan Scoyne (Drumbo, Ontario/Stoney Creek Sabres)#, #Celeste Brown (Great Falls, MT/National Sports Academy)#, and #Erin Zach (Elmira, Ontario/Cambridge Fury)# scored for the Tigers, who out-shot Yale, 36-21. In net, #Ali Binnington (Oakville, Ontario/Mississauga Chiefs)# was outstanding, stopping all 21 shots she faced for her second shutout of the season. Brown and Zach also added an assist apiece in the win.

Brown was named the game's third star, Zach was the second star, and Binnington was the first star.

Jaimie Leonoff made 33 saves in defeat for Yale, who was also shutout at Robert Morris last night by a score of 2-0.

RIT was 2-for-6 on the power-play, while Yale was 0-for-2.

RIT Head Coach Scott McDonald is pleased about how his team is progressing at the Division I level.

“I loved the effort, all four lines and six defensemen played hard, and Ali (Binnington) was outstanding again,” said McDonald. “As a team, we are learning to play a 60 minute game and that it takes a full team effort to win at this level.”

The Tigers jumped out to a great start, scoring two first period goals to head into the opening intermission with a 2-0 lead.

Scoyne got RIT on the board just 1:37 into the contest, as her wrist shot from the left point went through a screen and past Leonoff just inside the right post for her second goal of the season. Zach won the draw straight back to Scoyne whose shot was on the mark.

Brown shoved home a loose puck on the power-play to make it 2-0 RIT with 6:55 left in the period for her third goal of the year. #Ariane Yokoyama (Van Nuys, CA/LA Selects) walked the blue line and fed a pass to Brown at the left face-off circle. Brown's shot was blocked but landed to (Woodstock, Ontario/Waterloo K-W Rangers)Tenecia Hiller (Brampton, Ontario/Brampton Thunder)# in front. The puck kicked off her skate with Leonoff making the initial save, but the puck was loose in the crease and Brown slipped it home for the goal.

Binnington made a fantastic save on Jamie Gray in the opening minute of the period, going post to post to rob a sure goal after an errant clearing attempt went right to the Yale forward.

Zach gave RIT a commanding 3-0 lead on the power-play 8:52 into the period, as she scored on a wrap-around for her first goal of the season. #Lindsay Grigg (Oakville, Ontario/Oakville Hornets)# won a battle at the half boards and kicked a pass to Brown, who found Zach behind the net. Zach came out and beat Leonoff to the short side.

In the third period, Binnington and the RIT defense held firm to record the shutout.

RIT is now 4-0-0 all-time against Yale.

Last night, the Tigers fell to Princeton at Ritter Arena by a score of 2-1, as Brown scored RIT's lone goal and #Laura Chamberlain (Norco, CA/LA Selects)# made 32 saves.

The Tigers return to action next on Thursday and Friday, as they travel south to play College Hockey America newcomer Penn State. Both games start at 7 p.m.
