ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY - The RIT men's soccer team (8-4-0, 4-2-0 Liberty League) scored six first half goals en route to a convincing 8-0 win over host Bard (2-11-2, 0-5-0 Liberty League) in a Liberty League on a cool, sunny, Friday afternoon. The eight goals scored were the most in a game for the Tigers since Oct. 30, 1984, when they defeated Geneseo by the same score.
The Tigers opened the scoring in the eighth minute when senior
Justin Dambra (Hopewell Junction, NY/John Jay) pounced on a loose ball in the penalty area and chipped a shot past Bard freshman keeper Dan Gagne.
It took 15 minutes for RIT to score again, but when it did, the flood gates opened. #C.J. Brunner#,
Geno Rocco (Apalachin, NY/Vestal) and Reuben Marquez scored in the 23rd, 28th and 39th minutes, and then
Coty Winchell (Belfast, NY/Belfast) and
Sean Sullivan (Malvern, PA/Great Valley) scored goals 20 seconds apart in the last minute before the half. Marquez's goal was the first of his collegiate career.
John Kaddo (Troy, NY/Averill Park) and
Matt Broedel (Hamilton, NY/Hamilton) added second-half goals, as the Tigers outshot Bard, 26-2. Sullivan, Broedel, Kaddo,
Jon Rosebrook (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga Springs) and
Kurt Spiegel (Monroe, NY/Monroe Woodbury) each contributed assists.
In net,
Sean Conway (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) and
Ben Frazier (Westminster, MD/Westminster) split the goaltending duties, with Frazier making two saves. Conway picked up the win and improved to
The Tigers out-shot Bard, 26-2, and had seven corner kicks to zero for Bard.
RIT is now 2-0 all-time against Bard. Last season, RIT defeated Bard 2-1 at Tiger Stadium on an overtime goal from 2012 graduate
