Men's Track and Field Finishes Strong at GaREAT Collegiate Open

GENEVA, OH –
The RIT men's track and field team had a solid performance at the GaREAT Collegiate Open.  Several Tigers picked up top-10 finishes.
 
The distance medley team of Adam Irr (Newfane, NY/Newfane), Cameron Lee (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford-Sutherland), Mike Ballow (Clarence, NY/Clarence) and Matt Giannino (Syracuse, NY/Christian Brothers Academy) finished in eighth with a time of 10:18.07. Lee also posted the seventh best time in the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles, and improved his time to 8.53 seconds in the finals to take fifth.
 
Mike Bradley (Penfield, NY/Penfield) finished ninth in the 5000-meter run with a time of 15:13.37, while Giannino placed 11th in the 1-mile run with a time of 4:16.46.  Caleb Brochu (Glens Falls, NY/Glens Falls) took seventh in the pole vault with a jump of 4.40 meters.
 
Tristan de Jesus (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga Springs) placed 11th in the long jump with a leap of 6.14 meters, while teammate Marquis Moore (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) finished right behind him in 12th at 6.13 meters.  Moore went on to place fifth in the triple jump at 13.49 meters.
 
Jamie Dorren (Irondequoit, NY/Irondequoit) took seventh in the high jump with a leap of 1.90 meters and ninth in the triple jump at 12.67 meters. Mike Haynes (Groton, MA/Groton Dunstable) finished 16th in the shot put with a toss of 13.28 meters and Casey Doty (Holley, NY/Holley) took eighth in the weight throw at 14.60 meters.
 
The 4x400-meter relay team of Ballow, Lee, Mike Andrews (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) and Joshua Norris closed out the track events with an eight place finish, at 3:26.30.
 
The Tigers will be back in action when they travel to Ithaca for the Ithaca College Invitational on February 4, at 10 a.m.
