Women's Basketball falls to Liberty League foe St. Lawrence

ROCHESTER, NY
-- The RIT women's basketball team (5-7, 1-2 Liberty League) fell to St. Lawrence (8-4, 4-0 Liberty League) 61-45 in a Liberty League showdown at Clark Gym on Friday evening. The Saints outscored RIT, 43-22 in the second half.

The Tigers got down early, but kept the game close in the opening stages of the first half.  With under three minutes to play, trailing 17-13, #Leslie Havens (Wayland, NY/Wayland-Cohocton) and Anne Wapshare (Blasdell, NY/Immaculata Academy)# drained back-to-back threes to give RIT a two point lead.  #Jess Kramer (Fayetteville, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt)# capped off the Tigers 10-1 run to end the half with a buzzer-beating jumper.

The Saints came out firing in the second half, outscoring the Tigers 27-10 in the first 12 minutes.  St. Lawrence kept the pressure on, leading by as many as 19.

#Courtney Tennant (Cortland, NY/Cortland)# led the Tigers with 11 points and nine rebounds, while both Havens and Wheeler finished with 10.  Kramer was strong off the bench, with seven points, three rebounds and two assists.

RIT shot 27.6 percent (16-for-58) from the field, while St. Lawrence shot 34.4 percent (22-for-64).  The Tigers were outrebounded by the Saints 52-39.

The Tigers return to action on Saturday, as they host Clarkson in a Liberty League showdown that gets underway at 2 p.m.
