ROCHESTER, NY -- RIT's Matt Broedel (Hamilton, NY/Hamilton) scored in the 43rd minute and the Tigers held to beat Nazareth College 1-0 in non-league action from RIT Field on Tuesday afternoon. The win improves RIT to 3-3-1 on the season, while Nazareth falls to 4-2-0 on the season.

Broedel scored with 2:40 to play in the first half. Dan Holowaty (Strongsville, OH/St. Ignatius) made a nice run down the left flank. He made the pass to James Whelan (Moriches, NY/Moriches) in the middle of the box. Whelan found Broedel with a pass who had made a run down the right flank. Broedel gathered the pass, and rifled a shot that hit off Kyle Connolly's hands and into the top corner.

The Tigers outshot the Golden Flyers 14-11. Nazareth took nine corner kicks to six for the Tigers. Sean Conway (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) picked up his third win of the season making three saves. It is Conway's third shut out of the season. Connolly took the loss for the Golden Flyers falling to 4-2-0 on the season.

The Golden Flyers had a great chance with 8:36 to play in regulation on a slight misplay by Conway in the RIT penalty area. Luke Elston gathered the loose ball and fired a shot that Donnie Maguire (Cicero, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) blocked out of harms way.

With about two minutes to play Chris Eccles fired a shot from just over midfield that Conway caught on the short hop and held on to.

The Tigers defense played a strong game, allowing just two shots on net.
