ROCHESTER, NY -- On a windy day at RIT, the Tigers women's lacrosse team closed out the regular season with a 20-10 loss to SUNY Geneseo. The loss drops RIT to 6-11 on the season while Geneseo improves to 12-2.
The TIgers fell behind early in the first half, allowing an eight-goal run by the Knights, and trailed 14-6 at the half. The Tigers tightened up defensively in the second half allowing only six goals, but the damage had been done.
Sophomore #
Shelby Vakiener (Fairport, NY/Fairport)# led RIT with four goals and an assist. She is one goal shy from tying the RIT record for most goals in a season.

Rebecca Lampson (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan Academy)# had two goals, while #
Megan Henriksen (Silver Spring, MD/Our Lady of Good Counsel) and
Loren Azlein (Cleveland, OH/Gilmour Academy)# each had a goal and an assist for the Tigers who were outshot 34-19 by the Knights.
Emily Haggerty led Geneseo with seven points on four goals and three assists. Caroline Buonocore tallied five goals and Anna Hutchings added three goals and dished out two assists.
Annie Smith picked up the win allowing six goals and making three saves. #
Katelyn Crane (Palmyra, NY/Palmyra-Macedon)# took the loss for RIT allowing 12 goals and making three saves.
RIT is off until Saturday May 7 when they compete in the Empire 8 Tournament. The fourth-seeded Tigers will face the top seed Stevens Ducks at 12 pm in Hoboken, New Jersey.
