ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT women's lacrosse team was defeated by Buffalo State 17-7 in non-conference action on a cold and snowy afternoon on Wednesday. The Tigers fall to 0-3 on the season, while the Bengals improve to 1-0.

Carly Augustyn (Spencerport, NY/Churchville-Chili)# converted a free position chance at the 14:09 mark to make it 5-1.

Loren Azlein (Cleveland, OH/Gilmour Academy)# goal made it 6-2 off a free position attempt, the Bengals ran off six straight goals to end the first half, leading 12-2 at the break.
Buffalo State scored an early second-half goal to make it 13-3. The Tigers scored three straight goals by Rebecca Lamspon, #
Megan Henriksen (Silver Spring, MD/Our Lady of Good Counsel) and
Shelby Vakiener (Fairport, NY/Fairport)# to cut the lead to 13-5, the closest the Tigers had been since early in the first half.

Ashleigh Caruso (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool)#, Lampson, Azlein and Vakiener each scored a goal for the Tigers who fall to 0-3 on the season.
Kendyl Clarkson and Karen Shaddock led the Bengals offensively. Clarkson finished with three goals and five assists, and Shaddock added three goals and four assists. Molly Seifritz tallied four goals and Mariah DeBolt scored three for the Bengals who improve to 1-0 on the season.
Shots were 24-22 in favor of Buffalo State. RIT won the ground ball battle 20-18, but were 13-of-22 on clearing attempts.

Katelyn Crane (Palmyra, NY/Palmyra-Macedon) got the start in net for the Tigers allowing 12 goals and making three saves. Freshman (Westwood, MA/Westwood)Caitlin Conway (Landisville, PA/Hempfield)# also saw action allowing five goals and making a save.
Ashley O'Brien played all 60 minutes for Buffalo State allowing seven goals and making seven saves.
RIT returns to action on Saturday, March 12 when the Tigers host SUNY Oneonta at 11:30 am on RIT's Turf Field.
