ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (1-4) women's lacrosse team dropped a heartbreaker to the University of Rochester (1-2) 12-11 in non-conference action this afternoon at Fauver Stadium. Shelby Vakiener (Fairport, NY/Fairport)# led RIT with seven points on five goals and two assists.
RIT led 7-4 at the half sparked by a three goal run to end the half. Freshman #

Loren Azlein (Cleveland, OH/Gilmour Academy)# each scored in the run to end the half, including one by Azlein with :15 seconds to play.
Vakiener and #
Rebecca Lampson (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan Academy)# led the Tigers offensively in the opening half. Vakiener had three goals and an assist, while Lampson added a pair of tallies.

Carly Augustyn (Spencerport, NY/Churchville-Chili)# scored just 1:56 into the second half to give the Tigers their largest lead of the game at 8-4.
The Yellow Jackets answered with five straight goals, taking a 9-8 lead on a goal by Nikki Homes with 19:09 remaining in the contest.
Vakiener responded for RIT, tying the score at 9-9 with 16:28 to play on her fourth tally of the game.
After a Sarah Skinner free position conversion gave Rochester a one goal lead, Vakiener tied the score for the third time in the second half and her fifth of the game.
With 9:43 remaining, Vakiener found Lampson and she found the back of the net giving the TIgers an 11-10 lead. Lampson finished with four points on three goals and an assist.
But the Yellow Jackets scored two goals late, including the game winner from Kayleigh Hogan with 3:14 to play to pull of the one-goal victory.
Augustyn and Azlein each finished with a goal and an assist for RIT who fall to 1-4 on the season. #
Katelyn Crane (Palmyra, NY/Palmyra-Macedon)# took the loos in net, allowing 12 goals and making 12 saves.
RIT returns to action on Saturday, March 26 when the Tigers host SUNY Fredonia at 1 pm on RIT's Turf Field.
