Women's basketball drops game to St. John Fisher

ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT women's basketball team (4-16 overall, 2-9 Empire 8) lost to conference rival St. John Fisher (13-9 overall, 10-3 Empire 8) 90-56 at home on Tuesday night.

RIT led the first few minutes of the game, 5-4, on a layup by #Courtney Tennant (Cortland, NY/Cortland) and a 3-point shot from (Neptune, NJ/Neptune)Anne Wapshare (Blasdell, NY/Immaculata Academy)#. The Tigers could not regain the lead as Fisher went on a 13-4 run to close the half 39-19.

The Tigers shot significantly better in the second half, shooting 37.9% from the floor but still could not reach the Cardinals as they shot 59.3%. Amanda Lax earned 22 points for Fisher, making 5-of-6 from the arc for 15 points.

Courtney Tennant (Cortland, NY/Cortland) led RIT with 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Anne Wapshare (Blasdell, NY/Immaculata Academy) and #Mallory Apperson (Bemus Point, NY/Maple Grove)# also chipped in with eight points each.

The Tigers return to Empire 8 action on Friday as they travel to Hartwick. Tip-off is at 6 p.m.
