Men's hockey puts unbeaten streaks on the line Saturday at Robert Morris

ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT men's hockey team puts three unbeaten streaks on the line, as they travel to play AHA foe Robert Morris on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. RIT clinched its fourth AHA regular season title in the last five years and will be the top seed in the upcoming AHA postseason tournament in March. Saturday's contest is already sold out.

The Tigers (16-8-7, 15-3-6 AHA) are riding an 11-game unbeaten streak, longest currently in Division I. In addition, the Tigers are unbeaten in eight straight road games and have a 15-game unbeaten streak against AHA foes. Last weekend, the Tigers recorded back-to-back shutouts against Canisius, winning 3-0 at Ritter Arena on Friday, and 6-0 at Buffalo State Ice Arena on Sunday. Defenseman Greg Noyes (Lucan, Ontario/Salmon Arm Silverbacks) was named the AHA Rookie of the Week after recording four points (1-3-4) in the two wins. Tyler Brenner (Linwood, Ontario/) scored three times, giving him 23 this season, tied for fourth in Division I.

Shane Madolora (Salinas, CA/) was named the USCHO.com First Star, Inside College Hockey Player of the Week and AHA Goaltender of the Week after stopping all 46 shots he faced in recording two shutouts last weekend. Madolora has a season-long 20-game unbeaten streak and leads the nation with a 1.82 goals against average and a .938 save percentage. His five shutouts are second nationally. Madolora has three shutouts in the last four games.

Robert Morris (17-9-5, 12-7-5 AHA) controls its own destiny in regards to receiving a first round bye for the AHA postseason tournament. The Colonials have a three-game unbeaten streak. Nathan Longpre leads the squad in scoring with 14 goals and 40 points in 30 games. Defenseman Denny Urban is right behind with 38 points with a team-high 30 assists. Urban is second nationally in scoring among defensemen in scoring. In goal, Brooks Ostergard has seen most of the action this season, and is 13-6-2 with a 2.57 goals against average and .918 save percentage. Eric Levine is 4-3-3 with a .928 save percentage and 2.40 goals against average.

This will be the third of three meetings between RIT and Robert Morris this season. On Oct. 29, Adam Mitchell (Crofton, MD/Baystate Breakers) scored with 1:10 left in overtime to lift the Tigers to a dramatic. 3-2 win over the Colonials at Ritter Arena. Brenner scored with 1:16 left in regulation to snap a 3-3 tie and give RIT a 4-3 win over Robert Morris at CONSOL Energy Center. RIT leads the all-time series between the two schools, 2-1-1.
