Women's basketball drops conference game at Ithaca

ITHACA, NY -- The RIT women's basketball was defeated by Ithaca College 69-51 in Empire 8 action on Tuesday night. The loss drops the Tigers to 5-18 overall and 3-11 in conference play.

RIT shot poorly in the first half, going 10-of-26 (38.5%) from the floor trailing 38-24 at the half. #Leslie Havens (Wayland, NY/Wayland-Cohocton)# led the Tigers with eight points, and #Jackie Hom (Newton, MA/Newton South)# added six points.

The Tigers held Ithaca to 38.9% from the floor in the second half, holding the Bombers to 31 points. RIT scored seven second-chance points in the second half and got 10 points off the bench.

Havens led RIT with 11 points, five rebounds, two assists and four steals.

Hom scored 10 points off the bench and dished out two assists and had two steals.

Junior co-captain #Anne Wapshare (Blasdell, NY/Immaculata Academy)# added eight points, seven rebounds and three assists.

Freshman #Mallory Apperson (Bemus Point, NY/Maple Grove)# finished with eight points, a team-high 10 rebounds and added an assist for RIT who will travel to Utica College on Friday, February 18 at 6 pm.
