RIT hockey fans encouraged to fill Blue Cross Arena on October 16

Tigers to host UMass Lowell during Brick City Homecoming and Family Weekend

RIT drew 7,421 fans to Blue Cross Arena last season, a school record at the venue. This year, RIT is aiming to sell the arena out when they play UMass Lowell on Oct. 16.

ROCHESTER, NY  - RIT fans! Let's pack the Blue Cross Arena! We are challenging you to help us fill the Blue Cross Arena! Lets fill the house with orange and cheer on the Tigers when they take on UMass Lowell on Saturday, October 16 at 7:05 pm as part of Brick City Homecoming and Family Weekend.

Come meet former NHL Head Coach and current ESPN Hockey analyst Barry Melrose who will be in attendance signing autographs. The first 5,000 fans through the door will receive a complimentary T-shirt.

Last year, the Tigers played in front of their largest Blue Cross Arena crowd ever of 7,421 fans. Fans are encouraged to fill arena to the rafters and break that record.  Capacity at Blue Cross Arena is 10,556 fans.

This year, the Tigers will be donning special jerseys in an effort to raise money for former Rochester American and current Spencerport High School Head Coach Craig Charron. The black jerseys will be auctioned off starting online the week of the game.  Proceeds will go to help the Amerks Hall of Fame member and his family in his battle with cancer.

Tickets are available at the Gordon Field House box office, Blue Cross Arena, and ticketmaster. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for RIT faculty, staff and alumni and $9 for students. RIT students can pay $6 if they purchase their tickets beforehand at the Gordon Field House.
