HOBOKEN, NJ -
Senior outfielder/pitcher Geoff Dornes (Landsville, PA/Hempfield) became RIT's career leader in runs batted in, as the baseball team (14-14, 3-5 Empire 8) dropped a pair of games at Stevens (14-18, 3-7 Empire 8) on Saturday afternoon.  RIT lost game one 2-1 in nine innings, and game two, 7-6.

Dornes drove in his 104th career run, breaking the mark of 103, set by Jeremy Tosh (Woodbine, MD/Glenelg) last season.  He hit his second home run of the season in the top of the seventh inning of game two, cutting the Ducks lead to 7-6.

RIT trailed 7-2 heading into the top of the seventh inning of game two before mounting a comeback.  Justin Smith (Livonia, NY/Livonia) hit a three-run home run to make the score 7-5.  Dornes followed with his solo shot to make it a one run game.

The Tigers hit a season-high four homers in game two.  Ed Hughes (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) hit his first two home runs of the season, both solo shots.  He hit one in the fourth inning and one in the sixth inning.

Mike Marsillo (Scottsdale, AZ/Desert Mountain) took the loss in game two for RIT.

Mark Rasulo was 4-for-4 with two doubles, and two runs scored for Stevens.  Kenneth Meerendonk was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI.  Mark Poinsett picked up the win, allowing five hits and one run over 5 1/3 innings.  T.J. Griffin picked up the save.

Game one was a pitchers duel that featured Dornes for RIT and Meerendonk for Stevens.  RIT scored in the opening inning, as Hughes drove in Ryan Campbell (Brockport, NY/Brockport), who singled earlier in the inning.

Stevens would tie the game at 1 in the bottom of the sixth, as Meerendonk hit a solo shot to right field.  Denis Ackermann won the game in the bottom of the ninth inning with a walk-off solo homer.

Dornes pitched well, but took the loss, allowing seven hits and a pair of runs, walking two, and striking out four batters in eight innings.  Meerendonk pitched nine innings, allowing seven hits, walking four, and striking out seven batters.

The Tigers and Ducks play a second doubleheader on Sunday, starting at 12 p.m.
