ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT women's lacrosse team defeated Elmira College (4-6, 0-2 E8) 22-9 in Empire 8 action on Saturday afternoon. The 22 goals is the most goals scored by the Tigers this season and ties the school record for most goals in a game. The win improves RIT to 7-3 overall and 2-1 in the Empire 8.
The Tigers took control right from the opening whistle, scoring the first six goals of the contest. RIT led 16-3 at the half led by Hennigan who had four goals and two assists. #
Danielle Previ (Medford, NJ/Shawnee)# had two goals and four assists in the first half as nine different Tigers scored.
Hennigan finished with seven points on the day with five goals and two assists. Previ finished with six points on two goals and four assists. #
Shelby Vakiener (Fairport, NY/Fairport)# had two goals and two assists, #
Allyson Pisher (Holley, NY/Holley) had three goals and an assist and (Palmyra, NY/Palmyra-Macedon)Rebecca Lampson (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan Academy)# had a goal and four assists.
The Tigers out shot Elmira 50-24 and won the ground ball battle 26-14. The Tigers were 13-of-15 on clears and were 4-of-10 on free position attempts. Freshman goalie #
Katelyn Crane (Palmyra, NY/Palmyra-Macedon)# picked up her fifth win of the season making nine saves.
The Tigers are off until Saturday, April 10 at Utica College. Game time is at 1 pm in Utica, New York.
