ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT women's lacrosse team opened the Empire 8 portion of the schedule with a 12-11 win over Nazareth College on a brisk Tuesday afternoon. The win improves the Tigers to 6-2 overall and 1-0 in the Empire 8. Nazareth falls to 4-4 overall and 0-1 in the Empire 8.
Sophomore #
Rebecca Lampson (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan Academy)# scored what would prove to be the game-winning goal with 7:42 remaining in the second half off a free position attempt. Her goal, the second of the game for the sophomore midfielder, made the score 12-10 RIT.
RIT was down 9-8 with 19:10 remaining in regulation, but rattled off three straight goals to take an 11-9 lead. #
Ashley Pezze (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland) tied the score at 9-9 with her third goal of the game. (Palmyra, NY/Palmyra-Macedon)Eileen Hennigan (Liverpool, NY/Christian Brothers Academy)# made it 10-9 RIT at the 15:32 mark off a free position attempt. #
Allyson Pisher (Holley, NY/Holley)# made it a two-goal game with 15:17 remaining off an assist from Hennigan.
Nazareth's Kristine Olijnyk made it 11-10 RIT with a free position goal with 9:42 remaining. She finished with a game-high six goals.
Lampson scored to make it 12-10 RIT and were able to hold despite another goal from Olijnyk with 2:19 to play.
Nazareth held a slight edge in shots, 30-29. RIT had 14 draw controls to 10 for the Golden Flyers. The Tigers went 14-of-19 on clearing attempts while Nazareth was 22-of-25. The Tigers turned the ball over 22 times while the Golden Flyers had 17 turnovers.
Pezze led RIT with three goals.

Sarah Frisicano (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) had two caused turnovers. Freshman (Palmyra, NY/Palmyra-Macedon)Katelyn Crane (Palmyra, NY/Palmyra-Macedon)# made 12 saves in net for RIT picking up her fifth win of the season.
RIT returns to action on Friday, April 2 when the Tigers host Empire 8 rival Ithaca College. Game time is at 4 pm on RIT Field.
