Women's swimming loses to Nazareth

Burr and Lorenz post three wins

ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT women's swimming and diving team wrapped up the regular season on Saturday losing to Nazareth College 158-139 at the Judson Pool. Senior Caitlyn Burr (Delhi, NY/Delaware Academy) and Rachel Lorenz (Norwich, NY/Norwich) each won three individual events for RIT who fall to 5-7 in dual meet action this season.

Burr, who finished her career at Judson Pool with three wins, won the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:36.57), the 100-yard freestyle (54.17) and the 100-yard butterfly (58.71). Her time in the 1,000 freestyle broke a school record by nearly 40 seconds. It was the first time Burr had swum that event breaking the previous record of 11:24.01 set by Ellen McCooe back in 2008.

Lorenz took first in the 100-yard backstroke (1:02.68), the 200-yard backstroke (2:18.75) and the 200-yard IM (2:18.48).

The duo also teamed with Rachel Redfearn (Marshfield, MA/Sacred Heart) and Sara Kucsan (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan ) to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:42.87.

Courtney Schwarting (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills Ballston Lake ) was a winner in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:08.18.

The Tigers will compete at the UNYSCSA Championships which begin on February 17 in Syracuse, New York.
