ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT women's hockey team (18-4-3, 13-3-2 ECAC West) ranked fourth nationally, is the No. 3 seed in the 2010 ECAC West Tournament and will host the sixth-seeded SUNY Potsdam Bears (9-14-1, 6-11-0 ECAC West) in ECAC West First Round action at Ritter Arena on Saturday, Feb. 27 at 2 p.m.  Tickets can be purchased at the door and will be $5 for adults and $3 for students with ID and children.

RIT comes into Saturday's contest riding an eight-game winning streak, outscoring foes 46-10 during that span. Junior #Katie Stack (Batavia, NY/Rochester Edge)# leads the nation with 29 goals,10 power-play goals, five hat-tricks, and is just three tallies away from tying the school record of 32, set by Danielle Nagymarosi (Uxbridge, Ontario/Uxbridge Tigers) in 2006-07. Stack is also six points away from becoming the eighth Tiger to notch 100 in her career.

2009 All-American #Sarah Dagg (St. George, Ontario/Hamilton Hawks)# is tied for the national lead with 44 points (16-28-44) in 25 games this season. Her 28 assists lead the nation as well. It is Dagg's second straight 40-point season.  She has 111 career points, just one away from moving into fifth all-time at RIT.

RIT has 18 players with at least 10 points. All 19 skaters could have double-digit points by the end of the season. The Tigers are second nationally in scoring, averaging 4.92 goals per game.

The Bears clinched a berth in the playoffs with a wild, 6-5 win over Neumann on Tuesday.  The Bears found themselves down 4-0 after one period, but rallied to tie the game with four second period goals.  Neumann went back up 5-4 early in the third period, but Potsdam scored twice in a 2:30 span later in the period to win the game.  Breanna Roy led the Bears with a goal and three assists.  Stephanie Simons leads the team in scoring with 25 points in 24 games.  In net, Hilary Hitchman has played in 20 games and has a 7-12-0 record.

RIT went 2-0 against both teams this season. The Tigers defeated Potsdam by scores of 6-2 and 17-1 on Nov. 20-21.  In the first contest, Dagg and #Kelley Prom (Grafton, WI/Wisconsin Wild)# scored two goals apiece for RIT.  The following day, all 18 Tigers recorded at least a point in the victory.  RIT out-shot Potsdam 142-20 in the weekend series.  RIT leads the all-time series between the two schools, 4-0-0.

The winner will go on to the ECAC West Semifinal next weekend at SUNY Plattsburgh.  If RIT wins, they will play No. 2 Elmira at a time to be determined on Saturday, March 6.
