Women's Hockey falls 4-3 in double overtime to Syracuse in AHA Quarterfinal

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT junior forward Linda Rulle and first-year forwards Kolbee Ashe and Tilli Keranen each scored a goal in the Tigers 4-3 double overtime loss to Syracuse in the Atlantic Hockey America Quarterfinal, Saturday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Jordan Blouin scored 11:32 into the first period to give Syracuse a 1-0 lead.
  • Keranen tied at the game at 1-1 on her goal at 16:17 of the opening frame. She scored off a rebound on a shot from sophomore defender Madison Buziak.
  • Peyton Armstrong scored at 6:40 of the second period to give Syracuse a 2-1 lead.
  • Armstrong scored her second goal of the game at 5:52 of the third period to extend Syracuse's lead to 3-1.
  • Ashe scored at 8:36 of the second period to cut the Orange lead to 3-2. Ashe and sophomore forward Kobee Ashe worked the give-and-go. Ashe fed a pass to Ziotas who passed it back to Ashe who tipped a shot into the open net.
  • Rulle tied the game on her goal at 9:04 of the frame. Sophomore forward Brac Kelley sent a pass from the point towards the Syracuse net. Rulle redirected a shot past Syracuse goalie, Ava Drabyk, for her 12th goal of the season.
  • After a scoreless first overtime, Syracuse's Emma Gnade scored 3:24 into the second overtime to make it a 4-3 final.
 
GAME NOTES:
  • RIT outshot Syracuse, 31-30.
  • Each team went 0-for-1 on the power play.
  • Sophomore goalie Brenna McNamara finished with 26 saves
