BROCKPORT, NY -- The RIT (1-5) women's basketball team picked up their first win of the season, defeating The College at Brockport 69-62 to take home seventh place of the 45th Annual Wendy's College Classic on Saturday afternoon.

Freshman center #Courtney Tennant (Cortland, NY/Cortland)# led RIT with 28 points and 10 rebounds. She was 13-of-21 shooting from the floor and had seven offensive rebounds.

#Leslie Havens (Wayland, NY/Wayland-Cohocton)# chipped in 19 points, seven rebounds, four assists and a steal.

The Tigers closed out the first half on a 12-6 run, led 35-26 at halftime and never looked back, leading by as many as 11 points in the second half.

RIT scored 10 points off of turnovers in the first half and got nine big points off the bench. #Jackie Hom (Newton, MA/Newton South)# scored eight of RIT's nine bench points on 3-of-3 shooting.

RIT held off a rally by the Golden Eagles, but were able to make some big shots down the stretch to pick up their first win of the season.

The Tigers shot 41.9% from the floor on 26-of-62 shooting. Brockport held a 44-39 rebounding edge, but the Tigers scored 15 points off of 15 Golden Eagles turnovers.

RIT returns to action next Friday when they open Empire 8 conference play versus Elmira College. Game time versus the Soaring Eagles is at 6 pm on Clark Gym.
