ROCHESTER N.Y. – The RIT women's swimming and diving team earned their first win of the season as they defeated Alfred University with a final score of 127-99 on Friday afternoon.
The RIT women began the meet by winning the 200-yard medley. The team of Jenna Hoffman (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena), Kate Macken (Gering, NE/Gering), Molly Woods (Avon, CT/Avon) and Katie Baldwin (Phelps, NY/Midlakes) placed first with a time of 1:57.25.
Macken won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:15.14. Hoffman took first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.71 followed by Harrison in second (1:06.06).
RIT was led by Courtney Schwarting (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills Ballston Lake ) won two individual events including the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:03.82 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:41.95.
Melissa Harrison (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) annexed the 200-yard IM in 2:24.76 and Woods won the 100-yard butterfly (1:01.98).
The 4 X 400-frestyle relay team of Mariah Lamb (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa), Schwarting, Sara Kucsan (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan ) and Rachel Redfearn (Marshfield, MA/Sacred Heart) finished the meet strong with a win in 3:57.77.
The Tigers return to action on Saturday, Nov. 13, as they host St. Lawrence. The meet is set to commence at 1 p.m.
