GENESEO, NY -- The RIT women's basketball team was defeated by host SUNY Geneseo (4-0) 71-55 in the first round of the 18th Annual Wendy's College Classic on Tuesday. The Tigers will host St. John Fisher in the consolation round on Thursday evening, December 2 at 8 p.m. at Clark Gymnasium.
The Tigers trailed the Knights 42-28 at the break, but came out strong early in the second half, opening with an 8-2 run, cutting the Geneseo lead to eight points on a layup by freshman center #

Alex Kelley (Rochester, NY/Brighton)#, cutting Geneseo's lead to 44-36. Tennant had four of the RIT's eight points in that run and finished with 12 points and six rebounds.
The Tigers shot 31.5% from the floor, and were 5-of-22 from three point land. The Tigers grabbed 39 rebounds and committed 18 turnovers.
Sophomore #
Leslie Havens (Wayland, NY/Wayland-Cohocton)# led RIT with 15 points, including 13 in the second half. Havens grabbed five rebounds and dished out four assists.
Freshman #
Mallory Apperson (Bemus Point, NY/Maple Grove) and junior (Neptune, NJ/Neptune)Anne Wapshare (Blasdell, NY/Immaculata Academy)# each scored seven points for the Tigers who fall to 0-4 on the season.
Sophomore point guard #
Jackie Hom (Newton, MA/Newton South)# had five points, six assists and had five rebounds, while Kelley finsihed with seven rebounds.
The Tigers have yet to win a first round game in the Wendy's College Classic.
