ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT women's swimming and diving squad (4-5) fell to SUNY Geneseo, 226-73, and SUNY New Paltz, 167-121 in a three-team meet at the Judson Pool on Saturday afternoon.
Caitlyn Burr (Delhi, NY/Delaware Academy) set a school record and won a pair of events to lead RIT.
Burr smashed her own school record in the 400-yard individual medley, crushing the field by 18 seconds in a time of 4:31.07. She shaved 13 seconds off her previous school record. Burr also won the 200-fly by 10 seconds in a time of 2:07.82.
The 400-yard medley relay team of Burr,
Jenna Hoffman (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena),
Kerzia Hopson (Norwich, NY/Norwich) and
Rachel Lorenz (Norwich, NY/Norwich) placed third in a time of 4:11.13. Hopson was also third in the 100-breaststroke with a time of 1:10.30. She was also third in the 200-breaststroke.
Cat Jones (Eden, NY/Eden) was third in the 1-meter diving with a score of 218.54. She was also third in the 3-meter diving with a score of 232.04.
Burr, Lorenz,
Rachel Redfearn (Marshfield, MA/Sacred Heart), and
Courtney Schwarting (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills Ballston Lake ) placed third in the 400-free relay with a time of 3:48.41.
RIT is back in action on Saturday, as they host LeMoyne at 1 p.m.
