ITHACA, NY -
The RIT volleyball team (4-2) recorded two tough wins at the Bomber Invitational hosted by Ithaca College on Friday evening.  The Tigers opened the evening by posting a dramatic, five-game win over SUNY Brockport, 25-16, 25-19, 24-26, 21-25, 15-12.  The Tigers came right back and defeated SUNY Oneonta in four games, 25-21, 25-20, 21-25, 25-17 in the nightcap.    

In the opening match against Brockport, senior middle hitter Victoria Petko (East Amherst, NY/Clarence) led the way offensively, with 18 kills and three service aces.  She also added four blocks.  Freshman Rebecca Moore (San Diego, CA/Rancho Bernardo) hit a team-best .385, with 11 kills and five assisted blocks.  Fellow freshman Cat Sullivan (Lehman, PA/Lake-Lehman) chipped in with 10 blocks.

Freshman setter Christina Worth (Valencia, CA/Valencia) dished out 34 assists and added six digs and four blocks, while Melanie Springer (Frederick, MD/Governor Thomas Johnson) chipped in with 10 digs and nine kills.  Freshman libero Audrey DiPoala (Victor, NY/Victor) recorded 19 digs, while senior Ashlie Baker (Northridge, UT/Northridge) added seven kills.

Petko duplicated her strong effort in the win over Oneonta, slamming 18 kills to go along with 12 digs and four blocks.  Moore hit a season best .407 with 13 kills, while DiPoala led the way defensively with 14 digs.  Worth hit a sensational .778, with seven kills in just nine attempts, while distributing 30 assists.  Freshman Katie Cooper (New Canaan, CT/New Canaan) chipped in with a team-best four service aces to go along with four kills.

On Saturday, RIT continues pool play in the Bomber Invitational.  The Tigers open play by facing Widener at 11 a.m. and St. John Fisher at 3 p.m.  If the Tigers win at least one of its two matches, they will play in either the third place or championship match at 5 p.m.
