PITTSFORD, NY -- The RIT women's lacrosse team defeated Nazareth College 17-5 in Empire 8 action on Saturday afternoon. The win RIT's first ever win over Nazareth in 15 games all time. The win improves RIT to 6-3 overall and 2-0 in the Empire 8. The 17 goals scored by the Tigers is the most goals scored since last April in a win over Hartwick when they scored 19.
RIT was out shot by the Golden Flyers 33-27 and lost the ground ball battle 19-18. The Tigers, however, won 13 draw controls and went 4-for-4 on free position attempts.
#Allyson Pisher (Holley, NY/Holley)# (Rochester, NY/Holley) led RIT with five points on four goals and an assist. #
Danielle Previ (Medford, NJ/Shawnee)# (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) had four goals while
#Nadia Pasicznyk (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia)# (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) and
#Ashley Pezze (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland)# (Guilderland, NY) each had three goals.
#Eileen Hennigan (Liverpool, NY/Christian Brothers Academy)# (Liverpool, NY/CBA) had two goals and an assist and
#Allie Coppola (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park)# (Orchard Park, NY) had a goal and an assist.
#Jerica Young (Jay, NY/Northwood School)# (Jay, NY/Northwood School) had three ground balls and caused two turnovers for RIT.
#Cecilia Enestrom (Medicine Hat, Alberta/Medicine Hat-McCoy)# (Medicine Hat, AB/McCoy) led RIT with four ground balls.
#Kelsey Evans (Carlisle, PA/Cumberland Valley)# (Carlisle, PA/Cumberland Valley) won her sixth game of the season, making nine saves and allowing five goals.
The Tigers jumped to a 3-0 lead early in the first half on goals by Previ, Pezze and Pasicznyk. Previ's was unassisted, Pezze scored on an assist from Hennigan and Pasicznyk scored on a free position attempt.
After a Nazareth goal made it 3-1, RIT scored four straight goals, taking a 7-1 lead with a little over 10 minutes to play in the half.
Pisher, Hennigan and Previ each scored in that stretch as Previ tallied two straight to give RIT a six-goal advantage.
The Golden Flyers scored the last two goals of the first half, cutting RIT's lead to 7-3 at the half.
Nazareth opened the scoring in the second half on a goal by Alyssa Mulheron, cutting RIT's lead to 7-4. But, that's as close as the Flyers would get as RIT ran off five straight goals to put the game away.
Pisher, Pezze, Pasicznyk each scored in that run for RIT. Pisher and Pezze each had two goals in the five-goal run.
RIT closed out the game with another five-goal run to make the final 17-5. Hennigan, Pisher, Coppola, Pasicznyk and Previ all scored for RIT. Pisher and

The Tigers will face St. John Fisher College tomorrow afternoon at 1 pm in Pittsford, New York.
