Baseball scores 29 runs in sweep of Medaille

BUFFALO, NY -- The RIT baseball team swept a pair of games from Medaille College in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon. The Tigers won game one 11-3 and won game two 18-1. The wins improve RIT to 18-20 overall.  Senior Jeremy Tosh (Woodbine, MD/Glenelg) (Glenelg, MD/Woodbine) broke the single-season record for RBI in a season and became the first Tiger to drive in 100 career runs.

Tosh drove in four runs on the day, giving him 41 on the season, breaking the record set by Jeff Hall in 1980. Last weekend, Tosh broke the career record for RBI at RIT, which was also held by Hall. Tosh now has 103 career RBI and is the only player in RIT history to have 100 or more career RBI.

RIT pounded out 31 combined hits and scored 29 runs.  RIT had 21 hits in game two.  The Tigers scored eight runs in the top of the fourth in game two and scored in all but five innings on the day.

Justin Smith (Livonia, NY/Livonia) (Livonia, NY) went 5-for-9 on the day scoring five runs and driving in three. He also had a pair of triples and four stolen bases.  Smith tied the single-season school record of 23, set by Matt George (Walton, NY/Walton) (Walton, NY/Walton) last season.  Smith is 23-for-24 in stolen base attempts this season.

Ed Hughes (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-DeWitt) went 3-for-5 scoring five runs and driving in three. #Josh Rodems (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) was 4-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored in game two.  Jeff Creagh (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Forks) (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Forks) went 2-for-6 with two runs scored and two RBI.

Kreag Bradley (Victor, NY/Victor) (Victor, NY) went 2-for-4 in game two with two runs scored and two RBI. Raffaele Parisi (Rochester, NY/Aquinas) (Rochester, NY/Aquinas) went 2-for-4 in game two with two runs scored and four RBI.

Brad Wright (Baldswinville, NY/C.W. Baker) (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) got the start in game one. He went four innings allowing three earned runs. Wright struck out three and walked one to earn his first collegiate win.

Kyle Desrosiers (North Attleboro, MA/Xaverian Brothers) (North Attleboro,MA/Xaverian Brothers) pitched the fifth inning in game one. Dan Greco (Lockport, NY/Lockport ) (Rochester, NY/Rush Henrietta) and Charles Yarrington (Rochester, NY/Pittsford Sutherland) (Rochester, NY/Pittsford Sutherland) also pitched an inning.

Rory Camardello (Brighton, NY/Brighton) (Brighton, NY) got the start in game two. He went four innings allowing one earned run on one hit. He struck out one and did not walk a batter.  He improved to 3-0 this season.

Dan Schuster (Livonia, NY/Livonia) (Livonia, NY/Livonia) pitched the final two innings. He pitched two scoreless innings striking out three and walking two. 

RIT closes out the home portion of the regular season schedule on Saturday May 2 against Rochester. First pitch is at 11 a.m. and will be held in conjunction with the second annual Imagine RIT festival.
