Baseball rolls to shutout win over Keuka

ROCHESTER, NY –
The RIT baseball team (16-20) picked up its fifth win in the last six games after defeating visiting Keuka College (6-24) 13-0 through the raindrops at RIT Field on Tuesday afternoon.  Game two of the scheduled doubleheader was rained out.

The Tigers scored in five of the six innings.  Junior hurler Jeff Bibbens (Weedsport, NY/Weedsport) (Weedsport, NY/Weedsport) allowed just two hits in six innings to earn the win.  He picked up his first win of the season, striking out four batters.  Freshman #Dan Schuster (Livonia, NY/Livonia)# (Livonia, NY/Livonia) pitched a scoreless seventh inning to preserve the shutout, RIT's second of the season.  

Sophomore second baseman Justin Smith (Livonia, NY/Livonia) (Livonia, NY/Livonia) recorded career-highs of five RBI and four hits in the win.  He was 4-for-4 with three runs scored, a triple and his team-best 19th stolen base of the season.

Ben Robertson (Mecklenburg, NY/Trumansburg) (Mecklenburg, NY/Trumansburg) was 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, a run scored and RBI.  He is hitting a team-best .500 this season (34-for-68).

Senior first baseman Matt Austin (Weedsport, NY/Weedsport) (Weedsport, NY/Weedsport) was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, two runs scored and a run batted in.  Austin is 11-for-27 (.407) with six doubles and two triples over his last eight games.  Junior catcher Josh Rodems (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBI.

Jeremy Tosh (Woodbine, MD/Glenelg) (Glenelg, MD/Hempfield) drove in his 99th career run and 37th of the season.

RIT out-hit Keuka 14-2.

Nick Ventura and Pete Venuti had hits for the Storm.

RIT leads the all-time series between the two schools, 13-1. 

The Tigers are back in action on Wednesday, as they travel to Medaille to play a single-game at 4 p.m.
