PHOENIX, AZ - The RIT Tigers lost a tough game to The College of New Jersey Friday afternoon 3-6. The Tigers hit the ball well, but were unable to find the gaps. The Tigers lead the game for seven innings, but allowed four runs in the bottom of the eighth and were unable to string anything together in the top of the ninth.
Mike Marsillo (Scottsdale, AZ/Desert Mountain) (Scottsdale, AZ/Desert Mountain) took the mound for the Tigers, going eight innings and allowing six runs on eight hits, while striking out five and only issuing one free pass.
RIT drew first blood in the top of the first, scoring
Anthony Culotta (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) on a bases-loaded catcher's interference call during Kyle Desrosiers' (North Attleboro, MA/Xaverian) at bat. Desrosiers and
Raffaele Parisi (Rochester, NY/Aquinas) (Rochester, NY/Aquinas) were then plated by a single up the middle by
Ed Hughes (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt).
RIT's bats were hot, but couldn't find openings. The Tigers managed five hits, but struck the ball well all day. RIT had chances to strike again, and had the lead-off batter reach first four more times throughout the nine inning contest, but failed to move any around.
The RIT Tigers are now 2-3, and will be wrapping up their spring trip to Phoenix with two nine innings games Saturday against St. Cloud (MN) and Wheaton (MA).
