ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT women's lacrosse team was defeated by the University of Rochester 12-9 in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon. The loss drops RIT to 4-3 on the season.

Rochester out shot RIT 26-22. The Yellowjackets won the ground ball battle 20-16 and won 13 draw controls to RIT's 10.

#Ashley Pezze (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland)# (Guilderland, NY) paced RIT with two goals and won four draw controls. Seven different Tigers also had goals and #Jerica Young (Jay, NY/Northwood School)# (Jay, NY/Northwood School) had three ground balls.

Rochester led 7-4 at the half. The Yellowjackets had two, three-goal runs in the first half.

Pezze gave RIT a 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal 5:02 into the contest.

After a free position goal by the Yellowjackets tied the score, #Nadia Pasicznyk (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia)# (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) gave the Tigers a 2-1 lead with an unassisted goal 8:58 into the first half.

Lindsay Dakin scored three straight goals for Rochester giving the Yellowjackets a 4-2 lead midway through the half.

#Danielle Previ (Medford, NJ/Shawnee)# (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) cut Rochester's lead to 4-2 with an unassisted goal at the 16:38 mark of the first half.

Pezze scored her second goal of the half at 17:08, cutting the Yellowjackets lead to one goal at 4-3.

Rochester closed out the half scoring three straight goals giving the Yellowjackets a 7-4 lead at the half.

Megan Stevenson and Erica Gelb opened the scoring for Rochester in the second half, increasing the Yellowjackets lead to 9-4.

#Allyson Pisher (Holley, NY/Holley)# (Rochester, NY/Holley) stopped the Rochester scoring run with an unassisted goal at 15:56 of the second half, cutting Rochester's lead to 9-5.

After a Dakin goal made it 10-5 Rochester, #Tina Podrasky (Scranton, PA/Wyoming Seminary)# (Scranton, PA/Wyoming Seminary) tallied an unassisted goal making the score 10-6 Yellowjackets.

Rochester scored two straight goals with seven minutes to play in the half increasing the Yellowjackets lead to 12-6.

#Sarah Frisicano (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia)# (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia) cut the lead to 12-7 with an unassisted goal at 23:20 of the half.

#Eileen Hennigan (Liverpool, NY/Christian Brothers Academy)# (Liverpool, NY/CBA) and #Megan Henriksen (Silver Spring, MD/Our Lady of Good Counsel)# (Silver Spring, MD/Our Lady of Good Counsel) each tallied a goal inside the last minute of the half, but it was too little too late for the Tigers.

#Kelsey Evans (Carlisle, PA/Cumberland Valley)# (Carlisle, PA/Cumberland Valley) took the loss allowing 12 goals and making nine saves.

RIT will host Alfred University on Wednesday afternoon at 4 pm on RIT's Turf Field.
