ROCHESTER, NY –Buffalo State scored four straight goals midway through the second half to break a 10-10 tie and hand the RIT women's lacrosse team its first loss of the 2009 season, 16-11 on a gorgeous Tuesday afternoon at the RIT Turf Field. Both teams are now 3-1 this season.

Buffalo State goalkeeper Ashley O'Brien was the difference, stopping 21 shots. She thwarted RIT on several point-blank opportunities.
Clarkson and Katie Henderson each had five goals and one assist for the Bengals. Karen Shaddock also recorded six points on two goals and four assists.
RIT out-shot Buffalo State, 42-31 and had 39 ground balls to Buffalo State's 27. The Tigers also had 17 draw controls.

Buffalo State led 7-6 after a hotly contested first half of play. Neither team held more than a one-goal lead during the first 30 minutes. The lead changed hands twice in the opening half. Buffalo State scored to open the game before the teams traded goals on four straight occasions. RIT scored two straight to go up 5-4. Buffalo State scored two times to end the half and take the one-goal advantage.
RIT out-shot Buffalo State, 20-17 in the first half and held the lead in the ground ball battle, 19-16.
Buffalo State's Molly Seifritz was helped off the field midway through the first half with an apparent leg injury. She recorded a goal and an assist.
The Tigers return to action on Wednesday, March 25, as they host SUNY Geneseo at 4 p.m. The game will be played on the RIT Turf Field.
