Women's lacrosse stays perfect at 3-0 with road win over Allegheny

MEADVILLE, PA -
The RIT women's lacrosse team scored 13 of the game's first 17 goals en route to a 14-8 victory over Allegheny College (1-1) on Thursday afternoon.  RIT won its third straight game to start the season.  It is the first 3-0 start in program history.

RIT scored the first five goals of the second half to open up its largest lead of the game, 13-4, with 16:57 left in the contest.  The Tigers went on an 11-2 run to break a 2-2 first half tie.

Junior #Danielle Previ (Medford, NJ/Shawnee)# (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) scored four times to lead the way offensively for RIT.  #Ashley Pezze (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland)# (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland) scored three goals, recorded three ground balls, caused two turnovers and had two draw controls for RIT.  Freshman #Rebecca Lampson (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan Academy)# (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan Academy) tallied three goals and added three draw controls.

#Megan Henriksen (Silver Spring, MD/Our Lady of Good Counsel)# (Silver Spring, MD/Our Lady of Good Counsel), #Kim Hunt (Brockport, NY/Brockport)# (Brockport, NY/Brockport) and #Hannah Long (Lee, NH/Oyster River)# (Lee, NH/Oyster River) and #Nadia Pasicznyk (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia)# (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) also scored for RIT.  Hunt's goal was the first of her collegiate career.

Senior goalkeeper #Kelsey Evans (Carlisle, PA/Cumberland Valley)# (Carlisle, PA/Cumberland Valley) played the first 57:42 and made a season-best 16 saves to pick up the win. Sophomore #Elizabeth Cardella (Albany, NY/Colonie)# (Albany, NY/Colonie) made one save in the final 2:18.

Allegheny out-shot RIT 38-32 and won the battle of ground balls, 23-16.

Meg Grossman scored three times to lead Allegheny.  Abby Sylvester and Kiah Voyer-Colbat added two goals apiece for the Gators.

RIT has out-scored its foes 31-16 this season.  Evans, the two-time reigning Empire 8 Goalkeeper of the Year, has a .745 save percentage this season.

The Tigers play their first home contest of the 2009 season on Tuesday, as they host Buffalo State at 4 p.m. This game will be played on the RIT Turf Field.
