ROCHESTER, NY - Junior sprinter Matt Marion (Lima, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) of the RIT men's track and field team was named the Empire 8 Track Athlete of the Week on Monday for the week ending Dec. 13, 2009.  It is Marion's second weekly Empire 8 honor.

Marion set a school record in the 500-meter dash, finishing first in an ECAC qualifying time of 1:05.16. He broke the previous record of 1:05.77 set by Brecht Moulin (Scarborough, ME/Scarborough). Marion also won the 55-meter hurdles in a time of 8.10 seconds at the RIT Early Season Invitational.

The Tigers return to action on Jan. 16, 2010, as they host the RIT Invitational.
