Women's swimming wins second straight at St. Lawrence

CANTON, NY -- The RIT women's swimming and diving team defeated St. Lawrence University, 138-98 in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon. The win improves the Tigers to 2-2 in dual meets this season.

The Tigers won the 200-medley relay which set the tone for the meet. The team of Jenna Hoffman (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena), Caitlyn Burr (Delhi, NY/Delaware Academy), Molly Woods (Avon, CT/Avon) and Rachel Redfearth won the event in a time of 1:58.44.

Courtney Schwarting (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills Ballston Lake ) came home first in the 1,000-yard freestyle in a time of 1:45.21, and won the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:46.61.

Hoffman won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:05.39.

Caitlyn Burr (Delhi, NY/Delaware Academy) won two individual events for the Tigers. She won the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:12.95 and the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 56.21.

Cat Jones (Eden, NY/Eden) won both the one-meter and three-meter diving events with scores of 192.20 and 190.50 respectively.

The Tigers rounded out the meet with a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The team of Sara Kucsan (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan ), Schwarting, Taylor Whalen (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca) and Brittany Schlunt (Santa Cruz, CA/Harbor) won the event in a time of 4:03.78.

RIT returns to action on Thursday, November 12 when they host the University of Rochester at 6 pm.
