ROCHESTER, NY -- Junior
Caitlyn Burr (Delhi, NY/Delaware Academy) (Delhi, NY/Delaware Academy) set two school and pool records, as the RIT women's swimming and diving team defeated William Smith, 136-91 at the Judson Pool on Tuesday evening. RIT won all 13 events, including several exhibitions.
Burr took first place in both the 200- and 500-yard freestyle events. Her time of 1:56.42 in the 200-free broke
Kristen Curtze (Edinboro, PA/General McLane)'s school record, set last year, by 22 hundreths of a second. Burr's time in the 500-freestyle of 5:08.52 broke Curtze's record, also set last season, by 11 seconds.
The 200-yard medley team of Burr,
Sara Kucsan (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan ) (Bridgewater, NY/Bridgewater-Raritan), Emily Rapchick-Weidman (Dansville, NY/Dansville) (Dansville, NY/Dansville) and
Rachel Lorenz (Norwich, NY/Norwich) (Oneonta, NY/Norwich) opened the evening by winning in a time of 1:55.21.
Kucsan won both the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterly in times of 25.58 seconds and 1:03.20.
Lorenz was also a dual winner, emerging victorious in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 56.19 seconds. She also won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:18.75.
Melissa Harrison (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) annexed the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:04.70
Senior diver Cat Jones (Eden, NY/Eden) (Eden, NY/Eden) won both diving events. She won the 1-meter in 197.3, and took the 3-meter diving exhibition with a score of 213.60.
The Tigers are back in action on Saturday, as they travel to compete against LeMoyne in a dual meet starting at 1 p.m.
