ALFRED, NY - The RIT women's basketball team (3-12, 0-6 Empire 8) fell to host Alfred University (7-6, 2-4 Empire 8), 77-48 on Tuesday evening. Alfred scored the game's first eight points and led by as many as 38 points in the second half.
#Danielle Furman (Coudersport, PA/Coudersport)# (Coudersport, PA/Coudersport) led RIT with 14 points.
#Anne Wapshare (Blasdell, NY/Blasdell)# (Blasdell, NY/Blasdell) added 10 points, while
#Rachel Bruno (Clyde, NY/Clyde-Savannah)# (Clyde, NY/Clyde-Savannah) chipped in with eight points, six boards, five assists and two steals.
#Tara Holaday (Arcola,IL/Arcola)# (Arcola, IL/Arcola) snagged eight boards.
Christina Jordan led Alfred with 22 points. She drained six 3-pointers. Lyndsay Murphy added 18 points, nine boards and six assists.
Alfred shot 43 percent from the field and out-rebounded RIT 49-34. RIT shot 31 percent from the floor.
RIT is back in action on Friday, as they travel to Hoboken, N.J. to play Stevens in a conference game starting at 6 p.m.
