The RIT baseball team (6-11) fell to SUNY Brockport by a score of 9-2 on a seasonable, breezy Wednesday afternoon at RIT Field.  The Golden Eagles scored five runs in the top of the first inning and held RIT off the board until the eighth inning.

The Golden Eagles jumped out to a 5-0 lead right away, as they drew three straight walks off Tiger starter Chris Miller (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) to start the game.  Rob Maxwell dumped a bloop single into right field, scoring one, giving Brockport a 1-0 lead.  After a run-scoring sacrifice fly by Max Zimmerman, and a pop out, Matt Beach provided the big blow, with a line drive, three-run home run to left center.

Steve Locke picked up the win on the mound for SUNY Brockport, allowing just two hits in six innings of work, striking out four.

Jason Michaels was 2-for-4 with three runs scored for Brockport.  Kris Gentzke and Mazwell were both 2-for-4 with two RBI's and a run scored.

RIT scored both runs in the bottom of the eighth inning on a RBI singles by Geoff Dornes (Landisville, PA/Hempfiled) (Landsville, PA/Hempfield) and Jeremy Tosh (Woodbine, MD/Glenelg) (Woodbine, MD/Glenelg).  Kyle Desrosiers (North Attleboro, MA/Xaverian Brothers) (North Attleboro, MA/Xaverian Brothers) and Justin Smith (Livonia, NY/LIvonia) (Livonia, NY/Livonia) got on base with singles earlier in the inning and scored.

Raffaele Parisi (Rochester, NY/Aquinas) (Rochester, NY/Aquinas) was 2-for-3 with a single and double and was hit by a pitch.

Freshman hurler Joel Walker (Morrisville, VT/Peoples Academy) pitched well in relief for the Tigers, allowing just one run in 2 2/3 innings.  Fellow freshman Tom Piscitell (Syracuse, NY/Westhill) got RIT out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the ninth inning.

The Tigers are back in action on Thursday, as they host SUNY Oneonta in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
