ITHACA, NY -
For the second straight day, the RIT offense was shut down by conference foe Ithaca.  The Bombers held the Tigers to just one run in two games on Sunday, handing RIT a pair of defeats, 5-0 and 5-1.  The Tigers drop to 6-10 overall and 0-4 in the Empire 8.  Ithaca improves to 20-6 and 12-0 in Empire 8 play.

In game one, Ithaca pitcher Nick Sottung held RIT to just one hit, an infield single by Tiger designated hitter Ed Hughes (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) in the top of the fourth inning.  Sottung struck out six and walked two in the complete game win.   Matt Samela was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored for the Bombers.

Tiger starter Mike Marsillo (Scottsdale, AZ/Desert Mountain) (Scottsdale, AZ/Desert Mountain) also threw a complete game, allowing eight hits and two earned runs.

In game two, Tom Fishback and Bryan Gardner combined to allow just three hits to RIT in game two.  Fishback started and allowed just one hit in five innings.  The two pitchers combined to strike out nine Tiger batters.  Josh Smith was 2-for-3 with a double and pair of runs batted in.

Matt Austin (Weedsport, NY/Weedsport) (Weedsport, NY/Weedsport) was 2-for-2, scoring RIT's lone run in the top of the sixth inning on an RBI single by Geoff Dornes (Landisville, PA/Hempfiled) (Landsville, PA/Hempfield)Cory Langtry (Moravia, NY/Moravia) (Moravia, NY/Moravia) took the loss on the mound for RIT, allowing four runs in four innings.

RIT scored just one run in the four games against Ithaca over the weekend, getting outscored 25-1.  Last season, the Tigers split four games against the Bombers in Rochester.

The Tigers will look to snap a six-game losing streak on Wednesday, as they host SUNY Brockport in a single, nine-inning game starting at 4 p.m.
