ELMIRA, NY -- The RIT (4-5-0) men's soccer team improved to 2-0 in the Empire 8 with a 3-0 win over Elmira College on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore forward Dan Holowaty (Strongsville, OH/St. Ignatius) (Strongeville, OH/St. Ignatius) tallied twice to pace the Tigers to their third win in four games.

Holowaty gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute. He headed in a cross from Bret Dietz (Harrisburg, PA/Bishop McDevitt) (Harrisburg, PA/Bishop McDevitt) for his third goal of the season. He struck again in the 27th minute on a header off a pass from Jeff Diaz (Brentwood, NY/Brentwood) (Brentwood, NY), giving the Tigers a 2-0 lead.

Todd Gaulocher (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) (Greenwich, CT) made it 3-0 in the 63rd minute with a well-placed shot into the top right corner. It was Gaulocher's third goal of the season.

Alan Smith (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) got the start, making five saves, earning his second shut-out win of the season. The Tigers defense was stout holding Elmira to five shots on goal.

The Tigers are back in action on Sunday afternoon when they face Ithaca in Empire 8 action. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 pm in Ithaca, New York.
