ROCHESTER, NY - Junior middle hitter Vic Petko (East Amherst, NY/Clarence) (East Amherst, NY/Clarence) of the RIT volleyball team was named the Empire 8 Volleyball Player of the Week on Monday for the week ending October 26, 2008.

Petko recorded 79 kills (4.7 per game) and 28 blocks (1.7 per game) as RIT won three of four matches at the second Empire 8 volleyball conference weekend to clinch the fourth seed for the Empire 8 Volleyball Championship.  She totaled 19 kills and 11 blocks in a five-set Tigers' win over Elmira and hit .316 with 25 kills and added six blocks in a loss to Nazareth.  She leads RIT with 490 kills and 129 blocks for RIT (16-20, 5-3 Empire 8)

The Tigers are back in action this weekend, as they host the five-team New York State Regional Challenge on Saturday and Sunday.
