KEUKA PARK, NY - Junior midfielder
Ashley Pezze (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland) (Schnectady, NY/Guilderland) scored two goals in the first 12 minutes of the contest to provide all of the RIT women's soccer team's offense, as the Tigers dispatched Keuka College 2-0 in a non-conference on Wednesday afternoon.
Pezze tallied her third and fourth goals of the year in the win. She opened the scoring just 3:03 in, as
Erica Main's (Chittenango, NY/Chiitenango) corner kick bounced right to
Emily Traversi (Acton, MA/Acton-Boxborough) (Action, MA/Action-Boxoborough), who found Pezze in the slot. Pezze's shot found the back of the net for her second game-winning tally of the year.
Just over eight minutes later, Pezze took a feed from
Danielle LaFrance (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-N.Syracuse) (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) at midfield, waltzed past a host of defenders and ripped a perfect shot in the upper right corner of the net from 25-yards out.
RIT's defense did the rest from there, hold Keuka to just four shots overall and one on goal. The Tigers out-shot the Storm 24-4, with a 13-1 shots on goal advantage.
Freshman keeper
Kasey Dobrodziej (Utica, NY/Thomas R. Proctor) (Utica, NY/Thomas R. Proctor) earned her first collegiate win in goal for RIT, playing the first half.
Ashley Valenti (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) made one second half save.
The Tigers are back in action on Saturday, as they travel to Utica to play the Pioneers in an Empire 8 contest starting at 3 p.m.
