Zbranak won a pair of individual events and a relay event to help RIT knock off defending Liberty League Champion Rensselaer to open the season. Zbranak, who has represented RIT in each of the last two NCAA Championships, began her senior season in fine fashion, winning the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:09.56 and took the 100-yard butterfly in 59.61 seconds. She was part of the 400-yard freestyle relay that sealed the win, finishing in 3:41.27.
