John Tuttle enters his fifth season as an assistant coach for the RIT volleyball program in 2019. He brings more than 20 years of head coaching experience to RIT at both the collegiate and high school level.
Â
Tuttle spent 10 years (2000-2009) at The College at Brockport, where he collected a 218-147 overall mark. Under his tutelage, 30 players from the Golden Eagles' squad earned All-SUNYAC honors, including two first-year Players of the Year, and three SUNYAC West Players of the Year, along with Brockport's first All-American selection since 1994.
At the helm, Tuttle led the Golden Eagles to their first NCAA appearance since 1994 with a trip to the national tournament as an at-large bid in 2006. The squad finished with 27 wins - the most since Tuttle's first year when the team won 29 matches – and advanced to the Great Lakes Regional of the NCAA Division III Tournament in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Under Tuttle, the Golden Eagles won at least a share of the SUNYAC Western Division in nine of 10 years and completed an unblemished 8-0 conference record in 2006 for the second time.

In 2010, Tuttle was named head coach at St. John Fisher College. He spent two seasons with the Cardinals, recording a 40-29 mark while leading them to two ECAC Upstate Tournaments and the Empire 8 Tournament in 2011.
Tuttle compiled an outstanding 133-43 record in nine years as the head volleyball coach at Rush-Henrietta High School. He led his team to six Monroe County League titles, five Monroe County Championships, and ended the season at the top of the state rankings on four occasions. Prior to making the move to the high school level, Tuttle served as an assistant at RIT from 1988-90 and 1992-94. He helped the Tigers to the NCAA final four and a number-three national ranking in 1993. He also coached the 18-and-under elite team with the Primo Volleyball Club in 1993-94.
A 2003 physical education graduate of The College at Brockport, Tuttle currently teaches physical education at Crane Elementary School in the Rush-Henrietta School District. He resides in Rochester with his wife, Sandi.
