AHA All-Academic Team
• Registered two goals and two assists in 28 appearances
• First collegiate goal and assist in 4-3 win over Robert Morris (Dec. 7)
• Scored a goal in 3-3 tie vs. AIC (Feb. 15)
• Blocked season-high three shots in 6-3 win over Mercyhurst (Feb. 22)
• Assisted the Tiger goal during 2-1 OT setback to AIC in Atlantic Hockey Tournament first-round (Feb. 28)
BEFORE RIT
• Played three seasons and was a co-captain with the Kemptvile 73’s.
• Was leading the CCHL in 2023-24 with 33 points (18G/15A) in 19 games before suffering a season-ending injury.
• Also had 25 goals and 41 points in 52 games during the 2022-23 season.
• Graduated with honors from South Carleton High School in 2021
PERSONAL
• Tyler James Whyte is the son of Kerri and James Whyte
• Has an older brother, Ben, and a younger brother, Noah
• Born in Ottawa
• Enjoys finishing with his family in his spare time
• Favorite athletic moment was getting an offer to play at RIT
• Started playing hockey at three-years old after following in his older brother’s footsteps.
• Best advice received – “Excuses get you nowhere in life. Everybody has excuses, but the best of the best find a way to put them aside and just play.”
• Credits his parents as having the most influence on his playing career – “They sacrificed a lot for me to play, which drives me to play hard and succeed not just for me, but them” – along with his junior coaches Jason York and Shawn Fensel who, “always reminded me to play the right way.”
