Tim “Sticks” McMullen begins his fifth season as an assistant basketball coach at RIT in 2017-18. He came to Henrietta as one of the more decorated high school basketball coaches in Section V history, coaching and teaching at Letchworth Central School.
McMullen was the head boys varsity coach at Letchworth for 31 years, posting 334 career wins. He was a four-time Section V Coach of the Year and led Letchworth to the Section V Class CCC title in 1999.
McMullen also was the head football coach at Letchworth for 12 years, leading Letchworth to three Section V titles in 2009, 2010 and 2011 and the NYSHSFCA title in 2011, earning Coach of the Year honors. McMullen was inducted into the Section V Football Hall of Fame in 2014.
A native of LeRoy, N.Y., McMullen graduated with a bachelor's degree in physical education from Ithaca College in 1979 and went on to earn a master’s degree in education from SUNY Geneseo.
McMullen and his wife Marcia have been married for 38 years. They have two children, a daughter Jamie, who's a physical education teacher at DeRuyter High School and a son, Corky, who worked at RIT as an assistant basketball coach and is now the head coach at Houghton College. McMullen and his wife Marcia are the proud grandparents of seven grandchildren.
